c1715                Anthony Maxwell was born.

 

c1721                Efje Vreeland was born to Mary van Horn and Enoch Vreeland. The family was probably

                        living at New York City, or in Hudson Co., New Jersey.

 

1722                 August 12—Efje, the daughter of Enoch “Vrelant” and Marie Van Hoorn, was baptized in

                        a Dutch Reformed Church located at New York City. The sponsors were John and Aefje

                        Theobles.[3]

 

c1739                Anthony Maxwell and Eve Vreeland were married, probably within the Minisink region

                        of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or New York.

 

c1740                Maria Maxwell was born to Eva Freeland and Anthony Maxwell, who were living near the

                        Delaware Water Gap, but it’s not known whether they were living on the Pennsylvania,

                        or New Jersey side of the river.

 

1741                 Anthony Maxwell, a defendant in a case before New Jersey Supreme Court,[4] was sued

                        at Morris Co., New Jersey for dept by plaintiffs, Francis Bowes,[5] Andrew Reed[6] and John

                        Seavers.[7]

 

1741                 The official register of the Dutch Reformed Church at Walpack, New Jersey was begun.

 

1741                 July 12—Maria “Maxfield” was baptized in the Dutch Reformed Church at Walpack, NJ;

                        her parents were given as Anthony “Maxfield” and Eva Freeland.

 

c1745                William Maxwell was born to Evje Freeland and Anthony Maxwell.

 

1745                 May 26—William Maxwell, the child of Anthony Maxwell and Evje Freeland, was baptized

                        at the Dutch Reformed Church at Smithfield, PA.; the sponsors were Enoch Freeland and

                        Mary van Horn. 

 

1751                 April 28—Children of “Antony” Maxwell and “Evje Freeland”—Enoch and Mary van Hoorn

                        Maxwell—were baptized in the Dutch Reformed Church at Smithfield, PA; the sponsors

                        were Enoch Freeland with Ann Dupuy and Isaac van Campen[8] with Magdalena Rosenkranz.[9]

 

c1753                Anthony Maxwell, John Reading[10] and Martin Ryerson[11] form a partnership with the intent

                        to mine copper. This is the earliest documented evidence of mining in the area of the

                        Delaware Water Gap.[12] 

 

1755                 Anthony Maxwell, a defendant in the New Jersey Supreme Court,[13] was sued at Sussex Co.,

                        New Jersey for dept by plaintiffs, Francis Bow,[14] deceased, his widow Rachael Delage, and

                        Peter Delage—the last two were also executors of the formers estate.

1775-1783          During the American Revolution there were numerous William Maxwells in the area of

                        New York City.  For example, records exist for as many as six persons named William

1885                 November 4—about 1 o’clock – Joseph Henry Edgerley died at 210 W.13th St., 9th Ward of New York City, which was the families residence; they were living on the first floor and were the only family living at that address.[239]
